Here are some weird and wonderful styles from over the years.
1. RONALDO
RONALDO is forever stuck with celebrating Brazil's fifth World Cup win in 2002 with THAT left towards the front of his head.
You would have thought the South American star could have afforded the full shave ahead of the final against Germany.
2. CHRIS WADDLE
AT the other end of the scale is England's mullet-sporting Chris Waddle.
This streamlined design helped the winger to a sterling career with Tottenham, Marseille and Sheffield Wednesday after leaving his home club Newcastle United — where it's rumoured the mullet can still be spotted.
3. JASON LEE
THE barnet that built half an hour of material for comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner in the early 90s.
It wasn't to last as Jason Lee later pitched up at Boston United with as much on top as Pierluigi Collina.
4. NEYMAR
BRAZILIAN starlet Neymar may dazzle with skills on the field, but his advisors were wrong to tell him to go for the 'electrocuted stray dog' look on top.
The 20-year-old will just have to hope his quick feet take the attention away from above his eyeline.
5. DJIBRIL CISSE
HO, ho, no!
Christmas may have come early for Djibril Cisse with this Santa beard last August.
But he has yet to bring presents to QPR fans with Rangers rooted to the foot of the Premier League.
6. BACARY SAGNA
THIS cut could only be the result of a bet — and it is.
Arsenal's French star Bacary Sagna thought this dubious design was a good idea as a youngster, and the braided bombshell seems to be struggling to shake it off.
7. JAMIE LAWRENCE
A COLLECTION of lurid 'styles' from Jamie Lawrence graced the Premier League with Bradford City at the turn of the century.
With a new colour every week, fans could have been forgiven for thinking the former jailbird was changing his appearance in an attempt to avoid capture again.
8. ROMANIA
THESE matching bonces helped Romania beat England to the top of the group at France '98.
Less happily for the eastern Europeans, 80,000 people were at the Stade de France to see them looking like bad Robbie Fowler impersonators.
9. TARIBO WEST
YOU would have thought Taribo West might have covered up his Nigeria-green pigtails when given the chance to use a bandage.
They made him look more like an alien than an Inter Milan defender — and it's hardly surprising the look didn't catch on.
10. ABEL XAVIER
A MAN who looked like the King of the Sea would have been much more at home in the River Tees than on dry land at the Riverside Stadium.
The Portuguese full-back washed up at Middlesbrough after making waves on Merseyside when he quit Everton for Liverpool in 2002.
11. CARLOS VALDERRAMA
HE'S still got it!
Colombian legend Carlos Valderrama appeared at the Ballon d'Or last week and, remarkably, STILL has his trademark fuzz first seen on the international stage in 1985.
